Welcome to Lian Wah Hang Farm & Uncle William's website
Lian Wah Hang Farm began as a humble enterprise of Mr Ho Seng Choon in 1954. Mr Ho aimed to provide a platform for public education on farming life while elevating the technological standards in the farming industry at the time. In line with these objectives, he constructed exhibits of cutting-edge farm equipment that were available to public viewing. These were shown to members of the public visiting the farm. In addition, Mr Ho readily took on countless apprentices so that his knowledge of farming techniques and technology could be disseminated more quickly throughout the farming sector. His efforts have been given formal acknowledgement in the National Heritage archives.
Lian Wah Hang Farm was the first, and remains the only Game Bird farm in Singapore. Speciality breeds at the farm include the widely popular quail, pigeon, guinea fowl. The farm can be described as 'fully-integrated' as the supply, retail and marketing of farm produce is wholly internal. The farm's main business is in the sale of eggs and meat of the various bird varieties to hotels, restaurants and supermarkets across the island. However, Lian Wah Hang also provides consultation services to related agricultural or poultry businesses.
Mr Ho's youngest son, William, continues his legacy. Uncle William Enterprises provides a wide range of talks and tours to suit every want or need. William Ho, otherwise known colloquially as 'Uncle William' or 'Uncle Quail', is a Singapore Tourism Board (STB)-certified tour guide and passionate educator; he combines his education in child psychology with years of firsthand experience in farming to bring new generations of Singaporeans closer to nature and the simple life. Set amidst the idyllic premises of the Farmart Centre in Lim Chu Kang, Uncle William Enterprises is easily accessible to the public and free of any public health and safety concerns regarding direct contact with livestock.
